The Fabric Art Journals book by Pam Sussman is more about ways to make a creative Art Journal using all types of fabric and embellishments.
I decided to start by making my journal covers first. I was so excited to get going, that when I cut and sewed the front covers together and began turning it inside out, that I realized I had not added any batting. So, I had to take all my stitching out and begin again, slowly, thinking about what my next step would be.
Here is what I have so far..................
The blue and green leaf fabric will be for the spine of the book and the inside of the front and back covers.
The house fabric was a piece of upholstery fabric that I liked but I don't remember where I found it, since I've had it in my stash for over 7 yrs., just waiting for the perfect project.
The house to the right, I have begun quilting with the walking foot around the outside of the house and roof in green thread. The right side will be the front cover.
The house on the left will be the back cover and I plan to have that house in a different color--maybe rose or pink.
I don't want to spend too much time on the covers right now, because I can't wait to get going on what will be inside the book. I want to use selvages, beads, ribbons, different piecing techniques, different block patterns, different threads, applique, photo transfers, fabrics, etc.
I'm excited to see what others have been creating this past week at: Patchwork Times.com
Great idea! I can't wait to see your process.
