Design Wall Monday

While I was digging through one of my many fabric bins, I came across 15 pieced blocks. I decided to make a quilt top for a little girl to be included in one of the many "Bags of Love" we have been working on the last few weeks in our sewing group.  I found fabric with little children on it and was able to cut (4) squares, each 8.5", which was perfect for the squares I had pieced.  Another digging through the fabric bins turned up a plain piece of turquoise.  The fabric had a nice size hole cut into it, but I was able to get (8) squares cut and I only had to piece one little strip at the top of one square.

The next picture shows one of the "Bags of Love" in the initial stages of construction.  It's much easier
to add the pocket and the applique prior to making it into the bag.  The last few years we made these,
we just added the pocket.  This year, we thought it would be fun for us and "the kids" to add applique.
I better get busy before tomorrow, because I have 4 more bags that need applique.

  2. Thank you. I really enjoyed adding the little extras. Hoping it will bring a smile to a child in need of brighter days ahead.
