| Pink Scrappy Challenge |
I seem to be running behind again. I never finished my blue scrappy quilt for January and I have now begun a pink quilt for Feb.
The pattern is shown in the Feb. 2010 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting. Sweet Tea was designed by Holly Holderman of Lakehouse Dry Goods. Holly used a darling teacup fabric for her quilt. I chose to use a fabric with ice cream cones that had white and pink backgrounds. I ironed "Heat & Bond" on the back of the fabric, so each of the 16 blocks needs to be machine embroidered before I can complete the quilt top. The quilt has become very labor intensive, more than I imagined, so it's taking longer to see the results. The pattern instructions recommended cutting "everything" out prior to sewing, so fabrics could be rearranged but I couldn't wait to see what it looked like. The bright star points in the lower right hand corner really stand out and that's all of have of the particular fabric. The fabric in the upper right & left corners is white with different colored polka dots, so they don't show as well.
You're making a whole quilt of each scrappy color? I'm doing well to make a block a month. The pink one looks good.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment. Yes, I plan to make a quilt per month based on the monthly color. I need to make a dent in my scrap stash. I was impressed with my embroidery machine. I hadn't used it in awhile. Hopefully, I will have a finished top by next week.
